Sharon Hayes, CEO

I am thrilled to welcome you to the website of one of West Central Florida's leading tertiary medical centers. As the newly appointed CEO of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, it is my pleasure to join a world class medical staff, supported by over 1,500 extraordinary nurses, staff members and volunteers.

Our 290-bed acute care facility has a long and illustrious history of providing the highest level of critical care for our community. Founded in 1981, this is the first hospital to be built in northwest Pasco County serving residents in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. This was the first hospital to deliver a comprehensive cardiac and open-heart program.

Over the years, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point earned a reputation for providing compassionate and innovative care to those in need. Our quality programs have been recognized for excellence by Healthgrades, US News & World Report, Thompson Reuters, and the American Heart Association, just to name a few.

You can have every confidence in our hospital. We are designated as a Level II Trauma Center by the Florida Department of Health. Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is the only trauma center in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. As you review the history of Bayonet Point, you can see that this was a natural step in our mission to deliver high quality, lifesaving care. Our trauma program leverages the strengths through affiliation of both HCA Florida and the University of South Florida. USF is a major leading university and medical school and HCA is the nation's leading provider in healthcare services.

Our medical staff is considered one of the finest in the state. Many of our physicians enjoy excellent reputations as the most experienced practitioners in their field.

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is home to a full Graduate Medical Education program in internal medicine, transitional year, and general surgery, all accredited by the ACGME. In addition, we now provide visiting medical student rotations. Visiting medical student rotations are an integral part of the medical education at Bayonet Point. We currently accept fourth year medical students for in-patient internal medicine rotations. Visiting students participate in patient care and didactics during their rotations.

The recent accreditation of subspecialty Fellowship programs in Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary / Critical Care, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology allows us to continue the momentum. All _nine_ training programs are under the single accreditation system of the ACGME.

As the new CEO I am especially grateful for all our employees, our physicians and our volunteers! I encourage you to access the Contact Us page to let us know how we’re doing and what we can do better to meet your needs at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. I am truly honored to be part of such an employee focused, patient-centered culture, which is at the heart of our commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
