Tampa Bay/Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announces that Corey Campbell, RN of the NeuroSpine Unit and Evelyn Christian, RN, Cardiac Surgical Unit, were nominated for the hospital’s Good Samaritan Clinic’s 10th Annual Nurses Award. The award was announced at Good Samaritan’s Annual Nursing Gala, but was presented at the RMCBP’s Nursing Gala at The Palace Grande. This year Evelyn Christian, RN, of the Cardiac Surgical Unit was selected as the Good Samaritan Nurse of the Year for Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
About Evelyn Christian, RN
Ms. Christian has been a 29 year staff member at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. She is also a longtime Pasco County resident and is well-known for her kind, compassionate manner and endless devotion to her family and friends. Evelyn has raised five sons along with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is regarded as the “ordained matriarch” and mentor to her family. In her 29 years at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Ms. Christian has always maintained a reputation for her enthusiastic spirit, zest for life and determination to live life to its fullest. She lives an active life and loves to travel. She also makes time to give back to her neighbors who are less fortunate by being active in her church. She volunteers for community causes such as working a community food bank.
In presenting the award hospital officials stated that, “Evelyn’s passion is helping people. She has been an RN for 40 years. She has explored a variety of nursing areas including neonatal, pediatric ICUs, the emergency room and the intensive care unit. She has performed in a nursing supervisory role and is a leader for new nurses coming into the nursing profession…A true leader, mentor, colleague, and friend.” Ms. Christian turns 77 years old and continues to work one to two shifts per week in the heart surgery unit. When she turned 75 her peers in the Cardiac Surgical Unit gave her a birthday celebration she will never forget. Everyone at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point agrees that “Evelyn has spent her lifetime committed to helping people and we are thrilled to see her recognized for her lifelong commitment for everyone she touches.”
