Hudson, Florida – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Wetmore, MSN, RN, CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), NE-BC (Nurse Executive-Board Certified), as Chief Nursing Officer. Ms. Wetmore comes to Bayonet Point from Oak Hill Hospital, where she served as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. Ms. Wetmore came to Oak Hill from Memorial Hospital of Tampa, another sister HCA facility.
Ms. Wetmore has over 20 years of experience in emergency care and nursing leadership. She began her career in Rochester and served in emergency nursing in Torrance, California, Tucson, Arizona, and Tampa, Florida.
Ms. Wetmore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the State University of New York College at Brockport in Brockport, New York. She attained a Master of Science degree in nursing leadership from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville. She is in the process of completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2017.
Wetmore is a Board-Certified Nurse Executive, Certified Emergency Room Nurse, and holds certification in advanced cardiac life support, basic life support, and pediatric advanced life support. She is also a trauma nursing course educator, which will be useful in her new role at a facility with a Level II Trauma Center.
