Welcome to the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point (RMCBP) Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. This program is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association and is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University and the University of South Florida (USF). The program is three years in duration, and has two positions available in each academic year. The goal of the program is to provide rigorous training in Clinical Gastroenterology. RMCBP is a 290 bed, Level ll Trauma Center with 70 critical care beds. The hospital has a very busy medical-surgical service including open-heart and neurosurgery. RMCBP provides a good mix of patients in term of age,background,and illness.

The Endoscopy Unit is well equipped with the latest generation Olympus endoscopes. All endoscopic procedures are performed with the Anesthesia Service for maximum patient comfort and safety.It is expected that the Fellow will become proficient in performing upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, variceal and nonvariceal hemostasis,esophageal and colonic dilation,single balloon enteroscopy, Bravo capsule placement, capsule endoscopy, esophageal manometry, and diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP.

A weekly outpatient clinic provides exposure to a different spectrum of illness and a different approach to managing problems. The conference schedule includes: journal club, core curriculum, case presentation, morbidity and mortality, and pathology. Training in radiology and nutrition is provided. Training in Liver Transplantation, EUS,and motility is provided in the third year.
