The Internal Medicine Program at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point accepts fourth year medical student rotations and provides students with educational and clinical training in numerous areas of medicine. The program was developed to provide excellent educational orientation in clinical environments as a means to develop general knowledge in areas of patient diagnosis and management. Students will receive basic medical knowledge in diverse clinical areas. Students will have direct contact with attending faculty and be able to work with Residents in the care of patients, providing an excellent orientation to post-doctoral training at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. We currently accept rotation applications from students of US accredited medical schools only.

Medical Student Rotations are offered in the following areas:

  • Internal Medicine Inpatient Service
  • Internal Medicine Hospitalist Service

Students spend a minimum of 8 hours per day on clinical and didactic activities.

Educational Programs

Medical Students are required to attend the lectures that pertain to their rotation, in addition to:

  • Grand Rounds: Every Thursday at 12 noon
  • Program Specific Journal Clubs and Lectures

Internet access, books, and journals are available in the Medical Education Library for Medical Students.

Patient Care Experience

The inpatient medical teaching service allows the Medical Students, to take primary responsibility for the evaluation and management of patients under the supervision of the Residents and Faculty members.
