Treating chronic respiratory symptoms

Shortness of breath is a common symptom of COPD and heart failure that can make it difficult to complete everyday tasks. The Better Breathing Clinic is committed to providing relief for patients with conditions, such as COPD, asthma, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease and other respiratory conditions that make it hard to breathe. Our care includes expedited evaluation and treatment supplemented by educational support and medical therapies.

The clinic is a convenient place where you can receive treatment outside of the emergency room (ER) while benefiting from coordinated care. Our staff partners with your pulmonologist, cardiologist and primary care physician.

Cardiac and respiratory services

The specialists at our clinic perform a range of diagnostic and treatment services, including:

  • Comprehensive evaluation
  • Diagnostic and laboratory studies
  • Education services on diet, exercise, smoking cessation and understanding your disease and treatment options
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring
  • Imaging services
  • Intravenous (IV) and infusion therapies
  • Medical therapy
  • Pulmonary function testing

Continuum of care for cardiac and pulmonary diseases

The Better Breathing Clinic is staffed by a board-certified registered nurse practitioner, who acts as an extension of your local healthcare provider. Our nurse practitioners are overseen by physicians trained in pulmonology, internal medicine and cardiac care.

The goal of our staff is to aid you in the transition from an inpatient hospital stay to outpatient follow-up care. This allows us to re-evaluate and monitor your condition following discharge to determine if additional treatment, education or services are required.

We also are available to help patients with heart failure and COPD who have not had an inpatient hospital stay but require assistance in managing their symptoms. Talk with your primary care provider, cardiologist or pulmonologist for a referral to our clinic.
